About Catalina Island Green Pleasure Pier in Avalon, California

The Green Pleasure Pier in Catalina Island’s main port city of Avalon, is the anchor to Catalina’s biggest city. While a larger concrete pier is the loading and unloading dock for the numerous boats filled with tourists visiting the island daily, the green pier is what you notice when you arrive in the main part of town. If you drive to the top of the mountain and look down into Avalon Cove you’ll see the pier jutting out from the beach. The pier frames the beautiful, intimate Crescent Beach which connects to Crescent Avenue.

The green pier is hard to miss on a stroll through town and along the avenue strip with its oceanfront views. The green pier, the subject of thousands of painting and photographs, is alive with the sights of the bay, people at play in the water below, diners eating fish and chips and sipping beers, and anglers casting a line to see if anything will bite.
