About Gaviota Hot Springs in Goleta, California

Gaviota Hot Springs is just up the highway from Gaviota State Beach and Campground. It’s more of a warm spring, but has been dammed up to create an inviting soaking pool. The hike up to the springs is about a half-mile from the trailhead (signs say .3 or .7, but .5 seems right). The parking lot, which closes at sunset, is located on the east side of Highway 101 at Exit 132 (signed for California Hwy 1) and . The state requires a small payment at the trailhead, but there is parking along the road to the lot for those that might return after sunset or are just generally cheap (like us). Gaviota Hot Springs can be found at the end of a short side trail that branches to the right off the trail that ascends to Gaviota Peak. The elevation gain is about 400 feet to the springs. If you plan to hike in the area, start with a topo map of Gaviota Hot Springs.
