About Hermosa Beach Pier in Hermosa Beach, California
Hermosa Beach Pier allows visitors to Hermosa Beach a chance to walk out over Santa Monica Bay and look back at the Los Angeles area. From the pier the Manhattan Beach Pier is visible to the north and King Harbor in Redondo Beach is visible to the south. Many sand volleyball courts are near the pier on Hermosa City Beach.
At the entrance to Hermosa Beach Pier there are shops and restaurants of all types in a pedestrian-only area called Pier Plaza. Many more businesses line Pier Ave and Hermosa Ave in this busy small city.
Hermosa Beach Pier in California has a rich history that dates back to 1904 when it was first built by the Hermosa Beach Land and Water Company. The original pier was made of wood and extended 1,000 feet into the ocean, serving as a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. Over the years, the pier underwent multiple renovations and repairs, including the addition of a concrete deck in 1939 and a new entrance in the 1980s. Today, the pier continues to be a beloved landmark and gathering place for fishing, dining, and enjoying panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.
