About Oceanside Pier in Oceanside, California

Historic Oceanside Pier is one of the longest wooden piers on the West Coast, spanning 1,942 feet in length. Opened in 1987 as the city’s sixth pier to be built (and fifth on this spot), it is located at Pier View Way and The Strand.

For years there was a Ruby’s Diner restaurant at the end of the pier, but it has since closed down. Another restaurant is expected to fill the vacancy. From the pier it is free and doesn’t require a license if you want to try pier fishing.

There are two beaches next to Oceanside Pier. North of the pier the beach is called Pier View North. South of the pier it is Pier View South. At low tide it’s possible to walk a long distance south on the beach along the Oceanside waterfront. You can also stroll north to Oceanside Harbor Beach, next to the marina that sits along the northwest border of the city.
