Mission San Juan Bautista is located in San Juan Bautista a small town in northern San Benito County. This mission was founded in 1797 as a Roman Catholic church and was named for Saint John the Baptist. Of the 21 Spanish Missions established in California, this was the 15th. Today it is an active parish church, but is open to the public every day for self-guided tours.

It’s a short drive inland to the mission from the coastal cities of Watsonville, Moss Landing, and Marina on Monterey Bay.
