About Arched Rock Beach in Bodega Bay, California

Arched Rock Beach is named for the big rock with a hole in it that is visible to the north. The rock is actually right next to Marshall Gulch Beach, but from there it isn’t possible to see the arch. The signed Arched Rock Beach parking lot is located just about three miles north of Bodega Bay along Coast Highway 1. The path to the beach requires a little bit of a scramble so be prepared and don’t attempt it when wet or if you are unsure of your abilities. Like many of the beaches along this stretch of coast it’s better to visit during low tides when more of the sandy parts are exposed. Arched Rock Beach is a state beach within Sonoma Coast State Park. Don’t swim here because the rip currents are too strong.

I first found this place when I lived in Santa Rosa. Visited here ALOT! I stood or sat on the bluffs, low tide I would climb down to a tiny beach. High tide, there is no beach. Amazed me how quiet the waters are out to the rock from that beach. Water is wild in that archway! This was my recharge spot. World going to hell all around me, this is where I go, then get back to the hell with everybody else
