Del Mar Shores Beach Access

Del Mar Shores Beach Access gets beachgoers down a steep bluff to a sandy beach in the city of Solana Beach. It’s not well-known as the access is somewhat hidden and doesn’t have a parking lot.

This beach is below the Del Mar Shores Terrace condominiums complex (therefore the beach name) and has a public access right-of-way to a long stairway at the beach.

Depending on the tides you might find a very different beach at the bottom of the access. The beach here is narrow at high tide so plan accordingly (tide tables). The bluffs are being eroded and property owners have installed rock and concrete barriers at the bottom to slow this natural process.

Lifeguards are on-hand in the summer months from 10am to 6pm. When the tide is out this is a great place for walking on the beach. If you walk south far enough you’ll run into Del Mar North Beach which is known as Del Mar Dog Beach.

To get to the start of Del Mar Shores shoreline access, take South Sierra Avenue in Solana Beach to the side street signed “Del Mar Shores Terr”. Park along South Sierra Ave and then walk down the side street to the public beach access sign on the right. Follow this to walkway and the stairway the beach.
