El Embarcadero Beach Access

El Embarcadero Beach Access is at the end of El Embarcadero Road in Isla Vista next to the University of California Santa Barbara campus. On nice days, this sandy beach will be packed with college students sunning themselves between the surf and the steep bluff. Pelican Park on Del Playa Drive is just a few paces east of the pathway to the beach. This small park has an open grass lawn on the bluff with benches for viewing the Channel Islands and for whale watching. From the bottom of the stairs you can walk east (left) on the beach to an area below the main UCSB campus called Depressions. Free street parking can be found (if you are lucky) along Del Playa Drive or on nearby streets. At high tide there is little or no dry beach exposed, so plan accordingly.
