About Freshwater Lagoon Beach in Orick, California

Freshwater Lagoon is the northernmost of four separate lagoons in Humboldt Lagoons State Park, but the ocean beach side of Freshwater Lagoon is situated within the boundary of Redwood National Park.

The long wide beach here has dunes behind it and Redwood Highway 101 behind that. A rock arch can be found at the far south end of the beach. At low tide you can enter it and look south through the huge rock fin that cuts off this beach from Stone Lagoons Beach.

There is ample parking for cars and RV’s along the highway which runs between the Freshwater Lagoon and the beach. At the north end of the lagoon there is a boat launch for fishermen and kayakers to enter the lagoon. Picnic and restroom facilities can be found nearby at Redwood Creek Picnic Area just to the north. The Humboldt Lagoons State Park visitor center and bookstore also has facilities and is located just south at 15336 Hwy 101, Trinidad, CA.
