About Italian Gardens Beach on Catalina Island in Avalon, California

Italian Gardens is a boat-in campground on the northeast shore of Catalina Island. There are three separate beaches in this cove, each with room for camping.

No roads or trails lead to Italian Gardens so boating and kayaking are your only options. Kayaks can be rented in Avalon or Two Harbors and Italian Gardens is about the same distance from both towns. Consider renting or bringing snorkeling gear too.

There are no toilets or running water so pack accordingly. Camp fires are not allowed so don’t bother bringing wood (gas stoves are ok).

Reservations are required to camp at Italian Gardens Beach. Learn more about Catalina’s boat-in beaches and the planning logistics.

Catalina Express operates ferry boats daily to Catalina Island from the mainland in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Dana Point.
