About Marina State Beach in Marina, California

Marina State Beach is a stunning sandy beach that sits below high rugged dunes in Marina, CA. Hang-gliders launch off the dunes and enjoy the ideal wind and launch conditions here. It’s entertaining to watch them.

You’ll see surfers riding the swells here, but the surf can be dangerous so be careful if you want to swim and watch for sneaker waves.

Just before entering the main parking lot for the state park the Dune Nature Trail begins on the left. It’s a sandy boardwalk and interpretive trail that heads south through the dunes for over one-third mile.

The main parking lot for Marina State Beach is located at the west end of Reservation Road just west of Highway 1. If you walk north on the beach you’ll pass in front of the Sanctuary Beach Resort on the way to Marina Dunes Preserve. The state park beach continues south from the parking lot and a separate south entrance to Marina State Beach can be found at the end of Lake Drive.
