About Morro Rock Jetty Beach in Morro Bay, California

Morro Rock Jetty Beach is a small beach south of the massive Morro Rock and just inside the jetty that protects the entrance to Morro Bay. The wide sandy Morro Rock Beach is on the other side of the Rock. Morro Rock Natural Preserve, which is part of Morro Bay State Park, protects the 580-foot tall historic landmark. Climbing on the Rock is prohibited, but you can take photos from this small beach that is calm and protected from the ocean waves. Near the beach the waves crash hard on the rocks and the outside of the jetty sometimes spraying water high in the air. Birds fly overhead and land high and low on the Rock. The parking lot is located where Coleman Drive ends at the base of Morro Rock (drive toward the Rock and stay left until the road ends).
