North Pacific Beach

North Pacific Beach is north of the Crystal Pier at Pacific Beach and south of Tourmaline Beach. This wide sandy beach located below a steep bluff in the Pacific Beach district is often crowded but not as much as the area near the pier.

Offshore the waters are also packed with surfers, kiteboarders and windsurfers.

There are stairs and ramps to the beach from Loring Street, Crystal Drive, Law Street, Chalcedony Street and Diamond Street (north to south). The best known ramp is at Law Street and is called Law Street Beach by locals.

You’ll find street parking near all these streets and along Mission Boulevard. Restrooms are provided at Law Street and Diamond Street.

The Pacific Beach Boardwalk follows the bluff’s edge the entire length of North Pacific Beach and has several grass parks along its path. These parks are excellent spots in the evenings for watching sunsets. Crystal Pier is worth visiting if you haven’t before. This wooden structure is a public fishing pier during the day and a secured hotel with private cottages for rent at night.
