Oak Street Beach

At the end of Oak Street at Gaviota Drive in Laguna Beach there is a little park with benches and an access stairway to Oak Street Beach. This park is a great spot to rest and look out over the ocean. Walking in either direction on the firm sand is delightful here – that is if the tide isn’t too high. Swimming is not allowed here as this is a surfing beach.

Surfing isn’t allowed at Oak Street Beach, but you can see surfers enjoying the surf at nearby Brooks Street Beach just to the south. Anita Street Beach is the next beach to the north, and it’s not far away, as all the “street” beach access in these parts are close together.

The beach at Oak Street is narrow because the rocks extend out toward the ocean leaving less sand exposed here than at nearby beaches. Just be aware that except at low tides the sand might be all wet here.

After descending the stairs at this beach access, you’ll have to find a way to get off the rock shelf where the stairway ends. It’s not difficult, but it’s not as easy as nearby beaches where the stairs get you right down to the sand (during winter months is when the sand is farther below the rocks).

For parking, there are a few metered parking spots on Oak Street and many more along Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) that are close by.
