About Pine Beach in Fort Bragg, California

Pine Beach is the common name for the beach at the mouth of Mitchell Creek south of Fort Bragg. The beach is a perk for guests of the privately-owned Pine Beach Inn. Non-guests can pay a $20 fee to park on the hotel property and spend the day at the beach. Just outside the hotel property the state has provided some free public parking spaces at the Ocean Drive Beach Access. The trailhead at this public lot leads to an excellent hidden beach, but can also be used for access to Pine Beach. Pine Beach is a sandy beach in a deep cove where Mitchell Creek flows to the ocean. The setting here is serene with waves crashing on picturesque rocks in the cove. A few homes look down on the beach from above, but are relatively unnoticed. Access is via a short paved trail that begins near the Ocean View Rooms at the hotel. It gradually descends to the back of the beach. The cove is a popular scuba and abalone diving spot. The Pine Beach Inn address is 16801 North Highway 1 in Fort Bragg.
