Spanish Bay Beach

Spanish Bay Beach is a public beach at the south end of Asilomar State Beach. Spanish Bay is just inside the limits of the private community of Pebble Beach, California. The bay has a wide white sand beach backed by sand dunes and a golf course.

A wooden boardwalk meanders through the dunes making it easy to walk north and south. Walking south takes you to Moss Beach (similar to Spanish Bay Beach) and walking north takes you to the rugged shoreline of Asilomar State Beach and continues that way for another mile.

The best way to access Spanish Bay Beach is from Sunset Drive in Pacific Grove. By parking there you avoid having to pay the Pebble Beach entry fee. It also saves you a long trek from the nearest public lot inside Pebble Beach which is at Moss Beach on 17 Mile Drive. The northern part of Spanish Bay near the creek is part of Asilomar State Beach so look for state park signage near the path on Sunset Drive that drops down to a huge sandy beach.

Surfers like Spanish Bay Beach, but it’s not a great swimming spot due to cold water and strong rip currents.

The Spanish Bay golf course (The Links at Spanish Bay) is right behind the beach, however there are no public facilities for beachgoers at the beach.

If you have the time and haven’t done it before, the scenic drive around Pebble Beach’s 17 Mile Drive is worth the small cost of admission. There are many attractions and beaches to see along this drive and it should be on your bucket list.
