About Starlight Beach on Catalina Island in Two Harbors, California

Starlight Beach is near the west end of Catalina Island and marks the western terminus of the Trans-Catalina Trail backpacking route.

The beach is set in a cove with rocky cliffs surrounding it. A trail descends a gradual ramp at the back of the cove for beach access. The cove faces due north and the beach is covered with huge rocks in the sand.

Starlight Beach is posted for “day-use only” so if you are looking for a campground, you’ll need to backtrack to Parsons Landing or find another camp spot. It’s about a 9 mile round trip hike from Parsons to Starlight.

The Catalina Express operates boats daily to Catalina Island from the mainland in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Dana Point. Access to Two Harbors is only from the ferry dock in LA (San Pedro).
