Three Arch Bay Beach

Three Arch Bay Beach is on Mussel Cove in the private gated community of Three Arch Bay in South Laguna Beach. Mussel Cove is walled off on both ends by cliffs and backed by high bluffs with homes on top so unfortunately there is no access into the cove from adjacent beaches.

The name “Three Arch Bay” comes from the three small natural arches in the huge rock found at the north end of the bay. North of this rock there is another small sandy cove.

If you are lucky enough to visit Three Arch Bay, there are three stairways between homes that descend the steep bluff to the beach. One on La Senda Drive, one on Bay Drive, and one at the end of Barranca Way. Other names for the beach in Mussel Cove are La Senda Beach and Bay Drive Beach. Mussel Cove has a strong rip current and there are no lifeguard stations here, so it’s best to avoid swimming.

The entrance to the Three Arch Bay community is at Vista Del Sol on Coast Highway 1.

Thousand Steps Beach is an excellent public beach nearby that has caves, rock arches, and other natural features to explore.
