Two Harbors Beach on Isthmus Cove

The town of Two Harbors is on Isthmus Cove on Santa Catalina Island. Two Harbors Beach is a narrow sandy beach on both sides of the pier that juts out into this north-facing cove.

The other of the “two harbors” is Catalina Harbor just a short walk south across the isthmus.

The Catalina Express passenger ferry visits both Avalon and Two Harbors giving you two different options for your experience on Catalina. Two Harbors is much smaller, but has all you’ll need with a restaurant, bar, lodging, campground, general store, rental shops, guide operators, and more.

The beach in Two Harbors is great, but there are so many remote beaches on the west end of the island that you might want to rent a bike to venture out farther. Two Harbors Dive & Recreation Center rents snorkeling gear, kayaks, paddleboards, boats, mountain bikes, tennis rackets, volleyballs, bocce balls, fishing poles, wetsuits, and scuba gear.

The Two Harbors General Store is stocked with all the provisions you’ll need for a trip here. Several boat-in campgrounds are on the northeast side of the island so kayaks can be used for overnight camping.

Getting here is easy as the Catalina Express ferry stops daily at Two Harbors from their terminal in San Pedro (Los Angeles).
