Malibu is known for its gorgeous beaches, wealthy residents and celebrities—not so much for its restaurant options. But after a meal at Malibu Farm, you’ll realize that here, it’s about quality over quantity. If delicious, healthy and organic food with breathtaking views sound like your idea of a good dining experience, you’ll love this place.

Malibu Farm is located right on the Malibu Pier. It’s actually divided into two locations: A casual brunch and lunch cafe that sits on the very end of the pier, and the slightly more formal (but very laid back) restaurant at the beginning of the pier. The cafe opened first, with the dinner restaurant opening in 2014 (though they also serve lunch and brunch). The cafe is walk-in service only, but you can make dinner reservations at the restaurant.

The ambiance here is the perfect blend of laid back, sophisticated and romantic. It’s hard not to enjoy a meal with such a stunning backdrop, especially at sunset. There are cozy corner tables, large group tables and cushioned bench seats in a lounge setting, so whether you’re with your special someone or a group of friends, you’ll be able to enjoy ideal seating for your occasion.

The food here is certainly nutritious, but don’t expect anything bland or boring. The owner and operator, Helene Henderson, has an actual Malibu farm where many of the ingredients come from. When she’s not raising her own chickens, harvesting eggs and watering veggies, she’s gathering ingredients from other local producers. The result is a surprisingly versatile seasonal menu.

You can enjoy several small plates or a generous entree at Malibu Farm, and although the menu isn’t enormous, you’ll probably find something (or many things) you like. The cauliflower pizza is delicious, and the seafood and meat dishes are perfectly prepared. The restaurant only serves sustainable seafood, so you can enjoy your fish guilt-free.
