Mission Bay Park in San Diego is the largest man-made aquatic park in the USA. The park is made up of many points jutting out into the bay, numerous coves, and two islands. There are sandy beaches scattered about this irregular shoreline and with protection from the ocean waves, this is a safe place for saltwater swimming.

All around Mission Bay there are family-friendly grass parks with excellent facilities to support thousands of active outdoor visitors each day. Most parks have picnic tables, barbecues, benches, restrooms, and showers. Some have larger covered group picnic areas, playgrounds for kids, fire pits for evening bonfires, and even lifeguards. View the individual beach pages for more information on their amenities.

Encircling this huge park is a 12-mile long paved path for runners, bikers, skaters, and walkers to take advantage of. Waterskiing, sailing, kiteboarding, windsurfing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and boating are all popular activities here too.

Next to the bay you’ll find SeaWorld San Diego and Belmont Park Amusement Park right on Mission Beach.
