San Onofre Bluffs Nude Beach Bryce Apr16 (3)

San Diego isn’t known for its nude beaches but it does have a few. The state, San Diego County, and the municipalities near these beaches have rules that are strictly enforced so follow all local rules and established laws to avoid getting a citation, or worse yet, getting places closed to nude sunbathing.

Black’s Beach is probably the best known nude beach in Southern California. There are so few clothing-optional beaches in SoCal so this one really stands out. Read our beach description to understand where the nude zone is. South Black’s Beach is technically not a nude beach, but many people break the rules down there.

Boneyard Beach is an unofficial nude beach. Due to its seclusion below the steep bluffs of Encinitas and the lack of a direct access, it has a reputation as a nude beach. On weekends and sunny days there will be a lot of foot traffic walking this sandy beach between Swami’s and D Street Beach. So if you plan to go in the buff here, try mid-week.

San Onofre Nude Area – The other option in San Diego County is up north near the border with Orange County. San Onofre State Beach is strictly against nudity but there is a section of beach outside of the state property where nudity is accepted. This secluded area is south of the southernmost beach access at Trail Number 6.
