About Breakwater Way Beach in Oceanside, California
Breakwater Way Beach is a family-friendly beach located at Breakwater Way in Oceanside. This wide sandy beach comes with lifeguards, restrooms, and abundant picnic tables.
South of Breakwater Way there is a wide swath of beach lined by palm trees next to “The Strand,” a narrow street and sidewalk that runs south to the Oceanside Pier.
North of Breakwater Way is a narrow strip of beach in front of a condominium complex called North Coast Village, but on the other side of the buildings the beach opens up and there is a wide sand spit in front of San Luis Rey River. Don’t swim in the river water, but do enjoy the sand and open space here. Oceanside Harbor Beach is on the other side of the river mouth and a rock jetty that people scramble out onto.
A public parking lot can be found at the intersection of North Pacific Street and Breakwater Bay. You’ll have to pay a fee to park there, but it’s pretty close to the beach and there are not many other options.
