About Latigo Beach in Malibu, California
Latigo Beach is on the east side of Latigo Point in Malibu. More specifically, Latigo Beach is below the houses and condo buildings along Latigo Shore Drive in Eastern Malibu.
Latigo is a little-known beach that is ideal for sunbathing or just for stretching the legs. It’s usually calm here as the beach faces southeast and is protected from the west by Latigo Point. At the west end there are tide pools to find if the tide is low. From here it’s possible to walk west all the way to Escondido Beach when the tide is out. At the east end the sand continues to Dan Blocker Beach for more shoreline to explore.
Almost all the sand, wet or dry, at Latigo Beach is public as the easements are clearly defined. Just stay back 16 feet from the first five condos and 10 feet from the next three.
To find Latigo Beach, just look for a “Coastal Access” sign along Pacific Coast Highway that points into Latigo Shore Dr (also signed for Seagull Dr). The access entrance and stairway to the beach is next to the condos that are immediately on the left as you enter the street. Park just outside the “private street” signs or better yet somewhere along PCH to avoid any complaints. There are storm drains and signs that say “no swimming” so don’t swim if it has been raining lately.
