While not as crowded with tourists as other nearby cities, Torrance offers swimmers and divers a calmer alternative. Torrance Beach is not known for its surfing, but rather the mellow atmosphere and shallow waters attract families in search of a little more seclusion and privacy. Miramar Park is right next to the Torrance Beach, where it overlooks the ocean and provides easy access to a number of local coffee shops. The beach south of Torrance is nicknamed “Rat Beach” for right after Torrance. That beach has a popular surf break called Haggartys and is more off the beaten path.
