About Luffenholtz Beach County Park in Trinidad, California

Luffenholtz Beach is a Humboldt County park just south of the small town of Trinidad. The park has a large scenic overlook on a rock that juts out into the surf with views toward Trinidad Head and the picturesque town. It’s quite an experience to walk this narrow path out to the point which drops off on all sides. There are picnic tables on the bluff near the overlook for resting when the weather allows. North of this overlook is Luffenholtz Beach and south of it is Houda Point Beach.

The stairs to Luffenholtz Beach start a hundred yards north of the parking lot along the road. There is room for several cars right at the beach access, but these get taken first. Luffenholtz Creek sometimes flows across this narrow dark sand beach which has large rocks in the surf and offshore to photograph. From Trinidad just drive down Scenic Drive for a couple miles and look for Luffenholtz Beach Park on the right.
