Alt Karlsbad, Carlsbad Mineral Spa in Carlsbad, California
On your next beach trip to Carlsbad, swing by the place that inspired the town’s name. Alt Karlsbad is the site of the first mineral spring in the area which was discovered while digging a well in 1882. The historic building was built in the late 1800s and is now a protected landmark. It was named for a similar mineral spa in Karlsbad, Bohemia, Czech Republic.
While you are there grab a bottle of Carlsbad Alkaline Water which comes from their artesian well. It is said to have healing properties.
