About Berkeley Pier in Berkeley, California

The Berkeley Municipal Pier is a 3000 foot long concrete post and slab pier that was originally built around 1926. Until recently it was open for walking and fishing, but a survey of the structure determined that it was deteriorating much faster than the city had hoped. Some sections were at risk of collapse so in mid-2015 it was closed completely and it is uncertain when it will re-open. The cost of the repairs could possibly close this historic pier forever.
