Catalina Island Golf Course

If you are a golfer and have time for golf on your visit to Avalon, this challenging little golf course is worth playing. It’s a 9-hole course with a mix of par 3 and par 4 holes for a total of par 32 and 2100 yards. If you want to play 18 holes they have a second set of tees. You’ll be dodging bunkers while trying to hit the small greens at this unique course.

Since bringing your own clubs on the Catalina Express ferry is a pain, they have rentals available at the pro shop. They also rent pull carts and electric golf carts.

Catalina Island Golf Course opened in 1892 as a 3-hole course and is considered the oldest course east of the Mississippi. The course grew to a full 18-hole course in 1929, but was brought down to it’s current 9-hole layout in the 1940’s.
