About Golden Gate Bridge Vista at Battery Spencer in Sausalito, California

The Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point is up in the Marin Headlands high above the bridge deck of this famous suspension bridge. While there are many places to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge, this spot ranks among the best.

Battery Spencer, a large concrete World War II installation, is also at this location which was a prime spot for protecting San Francisco Bay. It is about about 300 yards from the small parking area on Conzelman Road to the best viewpoint at the edge of the cliffs. Kirby Cove shares the same parking lot and is worth visiting if you have the time and the energy for two mile round trip hike.

To get here, head across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco and take the Alexander Ave exit on the right side of the highway. Then go left under the highway and turn right onto Conzelman. The first left goes to the North Tower parking lot (an alternate parking area) and the Battery Spencer parking lot is just a bit farther on the left. Be patient if you want a spot here. Many of the visitors are tourists who come and go regularly so spots do open up eventually.
