About Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, California

Griffith Observatory sits high above the Los Angeles area smog on a hill (Mt Hollywood) in Griffith Park. The facility is open to the public with lots to offer including telescopes, a planetarium, and exhibits about the telescopes, the progression of human observation, and all the things we can see in the sky. It’s open from noon to 10pm most days and the public telescopes (not the main big one) are available for used on clear sky nights. On one Saturday per month they host a Star Party with many people gathering to watch the skies. See their website for the upcoming dates. If you visit the observatory be sure to see the Tesla Coil.
