About Half Moon Bay Tide Pools in Half Moon Bay, California

Half Moon Bay is better known for the amazing sandy beaches than it is for tide pools. The entire waterfront of the city is one continuous sandy beach with five different access points in Half Moon Bay State Beach. Nearby there are many more less-known beaches that are equally beautiful. These beaches are great for sunbathing and long beach walks.

Unknown to many, there is one spot in Half Moon Bay that makes the list of top places for tidepooling in California. This wonderful beach that is teaming with urchins and other marine life is located below the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay Resort south of the HMB city center. It has two access points on either side of the resort. The first is the closest at Pelican Point Beach where you must walk north on the beach to find the tide pools. The second option is at Redondo Beach where you walk south.  Like most tide pools, this spot is only exposed at low tides. Check tide charts before you go and have fun exploring the Half Moon Bay Tide Pools.
