About La Purisima Mission State Historic Park in Lompoc, California

Mission La Purisima Concepcion de Maria Santisima is located a short drive off Highway 101 near Lompoc, California. This beautiful mission is set amongst the oak-studded hills, farms and residential neighborhoods in a valley that enjoys temperate climate and often evening fog not far from Vandenberg Air Force Base. It was established as the 11th in a chain of 21 California Missions along The King’s Highway or El Camino Real in 1787. The original mission was destroyed and later rebuilt by original methods. Extremely popular for school tours, the mission includes docents with tour information, a small gift store and grounds to wander around on. La Purisima Mission State Historic Park is part of the California State Parks system and also part of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail.
