About The Pilgrim Ship in Dana Point, California
The Pilgrim is a replica of the original ship that was built in 1825 for shipping back and forth between the East Coast and California. This old ship was the subject of the novel and movie entitled Two Years Before the Mast. The “new” ship is a full-sized copy and was completed in 1945 in Denmark. It is moored in Dana Point Harbor between Baby Beach and Dana Point Headlands Beach. On most Sundays you can get on this huge sailboat that measures about 100 feet long and 100 feet tall. Even if you can’t get on the ship, you can get very close and it is quite a sight to see.
