Tomales Bay Oyster Company in Marshall, California
Tomales Bay Oyster Company is the first of four oyster stops on the eastern shores of Tomales Bay that you come across when driving north from the Bay Area. If you like fresh oysters then pull off Highway 1 to get a batch. If you are unsure, buy a couple and have the salespersons shuck them open for you. Put a little lemon juice on top and then slide the slimy critter off the half-shell and right into your mouth. It’s quite a flavor. Their Pacific Oysters, which are harvested right in the bay, are about as good as oysters get. Their prices are reasonable and the staff is super helpful. They have ice if you want to take them away and eat them later. Shellfish sales to the public is only offered Friday through Sunday.
