About Chicken Ranch Beach in Inverness, California

Chicken Ranch Beach is a little-known sandy spot on Tomales Bay near Inverness, CA. This hidden locals beach is a Marin County Park. The beach and a sand spit is formed at the mouth of a small creek that flows off Point Reyes into the bay. It’s one of the best spots in the area to launch SUPs and kayaks from and if you don’t have one, Blue Waters Kayaking rents kayaks just down the street from here. The west side of Tomales Bay has some excellent “boat-in” camping spots in Point Reyes National Seashore not far away. Tomales Bay State Park is a closer destination for day-trips where you can pull-out the kayaks for a rest or go for a walk. Local families come to Chicken Ranch Beach so kids might be running around in the shallow waters. Beach access and parking is located at the intersection of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Pine Hill Drive. Unfortunately there is only room for about ten cars at this location. It’s a short walk through trees to where the beach area opens up. Although the name might suggest it, there is no chicken ranch near the beach.
