About Shallow Beach in Inverness, California

Shallow Beach is a privately-owned beach that is completely surrounded by Tomales Bay State Park on the Point Reyes Peninsula. The shoreline at the beach is shallow and filled with muddy sediment from a creek slowly flows out to Tomales Bay at this location. Behind the beach is a large area of wetlands where the creek meanders on the way to the beach. The beach and the homes that surround it are at the end of a gated road that passes through the state park. Unfortunately there is no public access to Shallow Beach. However, there is parking available outside the gate and hiking trails (Jepson and Johnstone Trails) head north to Pebble Beach and Heart’s Desire Beach and south to Shell Beach. Each of these beaches are open to the public.
