About Pebble Beach at Tomales Bay State Park in Inverness, California

Pebble Beach is a hike-in beach in the middle of the Tomales Bay State Park shoreline on Point Reyes. It is reached by hiking a trail about a half mile south from the main parking lot at Hearts Desire Beach. There is a toilet at the beach, but you will need to carry in what you’ll need for the day. Pebble Beach is narrow in most places and dominated by trees that closely line the shore. It’s best to come here at lower tides. From Inverness, drive out Sir Francis Drake Blvd to Pierce Point Road which leads to Tomales Bay State Park. Look for the Johnstone Trail at the south end of Hearts Desire Beach. If you want to visit Tomales Bay State Park on a sunny weekend then get here early because the gate is closed when the parking lot fills and that can happen before noon. If the gate is closed, then you can hike here via the Jepson Trailhead above Shallow Beach.
