Muscle Beach in Venice is a unique outdoor weight room and sports facility. It is also quite a spectacle. Bodybuilders work out in front of the onlookers and often pose for photos with tourists. Bodybuilding contests are held here often with some of the local weightlifters competing.
Muscle Beach has been in action since 1951, providing an outdoor gym for locals and entertainment for everyone else. The Original Muscle Beach started in 1933 up the beach in Santa Monica, but that facility was shut down long ago.
