About Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden in Avalon, California

The Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden is a pleasant 1.5 mile stroll up Avalon Canyon Road from downtown Avalon on Catalina Island.

This uphill trek passes the 9-hole Catalina Island Golf Course, a baseball field, horse stables and Hermit Gulch Campground. But on a hot and dry summer day, it’s probably safer to rent a golf cart in town and drive it up to the gardens. Golf carts are available for rental to adults by several companies.

Another option is the Garibaldi Bus which begins near the ferry landing and goes all the way up to the the memorial and botanical gardens.

The memorial is named for William Wrigley Jr. (1861 to 1932) who founded the Wrigley Gum Company and purchased the Santa Catalina Island Company in 1919. He had an instrumental role in the development of Avalon and the rest of the island.
