About Cayucos State Beach in Cayucos, California

Cayucos State Beach is right on the waterfront in the town of Cayucos, California. The Cayucos Pier is a popular old wooden fishing pier that juts out from the beach and has been doing so since it was built in 1875 by Captain James Cass. “Cass’ Wharf” is open for public fishing without a license day or night.  The pier has excellent views of the town, the beach, the rolling hills, and even Morro Rock in the distance to the south. Just north of the pier is Cayucos Creek which flows across the sand at times. The slope of the beach is gradual so you can wade into the surf if you can stand the cold water. Downtown Cayucos has some antique shops and historic old western buildings along Ocean Avenue one block from the beach.

To get to Cayucos State Beach, take the Cayucos Drive exit off Highway 1 and head toward the water where you’ll run into the pier. Parking is available on Ocean Front Avenue and Ocean Avenue.
