About Depressions Beach in Isla Vista, California

Depressions Beach is named for the surfing area called Depressions on the west side of Goleta Point at the University of California, Santa Barbara. On the east side of the point is Campus Point Beach another surfing area populated with students from UCSB. Behind Depressions Beach is the UCSB Lagoon and walking trails that meander around the shore. Limited free parking for access to Depressions is on Del Playa Drive or nearby streets in Isla Vista. To get to Depressions from IV just walk to the east end of Del Playa Drive then follow the bluff trail to where it drops down to the sandy beach. You could also pay to park on campus in a lot at the end of Lagoon Road and then walk around the point on the bluff. This option is best in the evenings and weekends when school is out.
