About Little River State Beach in McKinleyville, California

Little River State Beach is a long wide sandy beach and sand dunes just south of the Little River mouth near Trinidad. The beach is a sandy walk through the dunes from the parking area. It’s a remote beach that doesn’t get as many visitors as nearby beaches. Clam Beach County Park has a larger day-use parking lot just south of here and farther south is the county-run campground for Clam Beach. From Little River Beach, if you venture north to the river mouth you will see Moonstone County Beach across the river. Hiking trails can be found at the back of the dunes between the river and the parking areas.

To get here, take the Crannell Road Exit off Highway 101 between the towns of McKinleyville and Trinidad and follow signs to Little River State Beach. There is a small pullout parking lot on the highway-side of Clam Beach Drive where a hiking trail heads through the brush to the beach.
