About Marina Dunes Beach in Marina, California
Marina Dunes Beach is located just north of Marina State Park about ten miles from Monterey, CA. Behind the beach is a resort, two hotels, and the Marina Dunes RV Park. A portion of the dunes are in the Marina Dunes Preserve which is protected by fences that are part of a long-term restoration project. There are trails just to the north and south of the preserve perimeter that lead through the dunes to the beach. Both paths begin on Dunes Drive across from the RV park. The beach itself is wide and has nice sand. Don’t plan on swimming here as the shore slopes off steeply and has strong undertows.
There are street parking spots along Dunes Drive for day-use visitors who are not staying at any of the lodging facilities nearby. Even though this public beach shares usage with the Sanctuary Beach Resort Monterey Bay (including the Worldmark by Wyndham Resort) you should still be able to find lots of elbow room as it is miles long. Walking north on the beach leads to seldom visited difficult to access sandy beaches that are perfect for beachcombing.
