2019 Beach Bummer List for Top Ten Most Polluted Beach in California by HealTheBay.org
Pacifica State Beach is located in a wide cove in the southern part of Pacifica, California. The city of Pacifica manages the facilities at the beach and calls it Linda Mar Beach. This long and wide sandy beach is backed by dunes for the northern half. The tall point north of the beach is called Rockaway Point and it has hiking trails that meander through the hills to various viewpoints above Rockaway Beach. There is a paved multi-use trail that runs behind the beach and stretches far north for bikers to enjoy. In addition to walkers and bike riders, surfers in wetsuits are a common sight here.
There is a Taco Bell restaurant right on the beach so you don’t have to pack a picnic for the day. Across the highway there are more food options and stores. San Pedro Creek cuts through the sand at the south end of the beach and adds bacteria to the bay (don’t swim anywhere near this outflow).
Beyond the creek the beach gets rocky as it continues out to a rocky point. You can find tide pools in this area when the tide is low. Pacifica State Beach has a large parking lot with nice facilities along Highway 1 just north of Linda Mar Boulevard. Across the highway on Crespi Drive you’ll find the large Pacifica Skatepark for skateboarding (or just observing).
