About The Cliff House Restaurant in San Francisco, California
We are sad to report that the Cliff House Restaurant has closed its doors as of the last day of 2020 (what a rotten ending to a rotten year). The National Park Service owns the building (has since 1977) and it sounds like the restaurant owners were unable to come to an agreement with the NPS for their lease. The Cliff House opened in 1863 and has been an icon ever since. The current proprietors have operated it since 1973. What a shame. We all lost a delicious restaurant in one of the coolest locations around.
The Cliff House Restaurant is perched on the cliffs just north of Ocean Beach, on the western side of San Francisco. It overlooks the site of the former Sutro Baths and is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Enjoy ocean views through wide windows at this casual all-day eatery serving Californian cuisine.
