About Mussel Shoals Beach in Ventura, California

Mussel Shoals Beach is at the Mussel Shoals community along the northern Ventura County coast. A long pier extends out from the center of this community and connects to a man-made island with palm trees that is a disguised oil platform. The shore north of the pier has a sandy beach that continues beyond the last home in Mussel Shoals to a beach access tunnel from La Conchita. It has a gradual slope and is great for walking in the surf. South of the pier is a rocky shoreline, known as Little Rincon, where surfers ride the waves that wrap around the point. Busy Highway 101 is right behind the beach north and south of the community. There is limited on-street parking in Mussel Shoals, just heed signs for private roads. The Shoals restaurant at The Cliff House Inn is open daily for lunch or dinner and you can park there if you are eating. The entrance to Mussel Shoals is on the southbound lanes of Highway 101 about three miles from the Santa Barbara county line.
