About Clifford Kamph Memorial Park in Smith River, California

Clifford Kamph Memorial Park is a large open meadow between Highway 101 and the Pacific Ocean near the Oregon state border.

Within the open spaces on the bluff above the beach there are short hiking trails that meander to viewpoints. Looking out from the park you can see a cone-shaped rock appropriately named Cone Rock.

You can walk the beach for about a mile in either direction. Beachfront homes are above the beach in both directions from the park. Walking south eventually takes you to a couple large rocks and Prince Island just offshore near the Smith River mouth. The weather here can be cold and windy so dress appropriately for your adventures.

The park has a tent-only campground, a day-use picnic area, flush toilets, and access to a sandy beach backed by dunes and drift logs. The campground is open year-round and has around 14 sites with tables including one on the beach (no reservations, first come first served). RV’s can camp at the Ocean Views RV Park just south and there’s a hotel at the Lucky 7 Casino one mile south.
