About Discovery Park in Sacramento, California

Discovery Park, one of many parks along the American River Parkway, is located at the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers. This grassy and wooded park spreads over 302 acres and offers visitors access to the water of both rivers with a large boat launch. Note that drownings have occurred here and the current can be stronger than it looks.

Bicyclists can start a long ride on the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail which runs east from here to Folsom Lake for a total of 32 miles plus side trip options.

Across the Jibboom Street Bridge you’ll find a large sandy beach at Tiscornia Park and more options for walking and biking on the Sacramento River Bike Trail and the Two Rivers Trail.

There is a small fee for parking and for launching watercraft. Discovery Park is open sunrise to sunset daily throughout the year.
