About Sacramento

Sacramento is located at the confluence of two large rivers in the Central Valley of California. This historic city has been the site of the state capitol since 1854. In addition to visiting the beautiful state capitol grounds and museum, there are many other historical parks and buildings around the city to see. Sacramento has several fun museums, including a couple for car and train aficionados. The city is not far from the Sierra Nevada Mountains and countless hiking trails from the Sierra foothills to Lake Tahoe. With abundant flat land and miles of riverfront, Sacramento has popular bike trails and large parks with river beaches. For sandy ocean beaches it's only a 2 hour drive. Want to go? See our map of the best beaches near Sacramento.
